You bring your perspective and expertise. We handle everything else.

Proxima creates intimate, multi-day residencies around exceptional artists and the people who genuinely value their work — days of learning, conversation, hospitality, and uniquely close access to the artist at the center of the week.

Our job is to remove the distractions — venue, travel, logistics, marketing — so you can focus on your art, ideas, perspective, and connecting with the participants.

What Proxima Handles

We take care of:

  • Venue and production
  • Applications, guest screening, guest registration
  • Travel
  • Accommodations
  • Meals and hospitality
  • The schedule (built around your sessions, with your input)
  • Brand, messaging, and marketing for the residency — built in partnership with you, drawing on your community and reach to help find the right guests

What You Create

You shape the artistic foundation of the residency.

A typical residency includes five artist-led days. Each day you design 1–2 focused sessions, drawn from formats like:

  • Masterclasses and workshops
  • Demonstrations and rehearsals
  • Conversations and Q&As
  • Open rehearsals or informal performances
  • Listening sessions or jam sessions

Opening night: For performing artists, the first evening typically includes an intimate performance. For artists whose work isn't performance-based, we develop an equivalent opening experience together — a reading, conversation, demonstration, tasting or screening.

Beyond the Sessions

Guests come not just for a class or performance, but for time with someone whose work they admire. Meals are at the heart of the residency — they're where connection is built, not just where people eat. We ask artists to:

  • Share meals and join conversations
  • Be present for spontaneous, unscheduled moments
  • Enjoy people, not just teach and disappear

That said — the week has built-in breathing room. You're not “on” from morning to night.

Getting the Right Guests in the Room

Proxima runs the marketing campaign — messaging, creative direction, photography, video, social content, landing pages, and timing. But the right guests are the ones who already know and trust your work, so we need access to your community to reach them. What we'll ask of you:

  • One video interview, filmed in person with high production value (Proxima produces the questions, films it professionally, and edits it into the campaign)
  • Sharing Proxima-made content through your own channels — your list, your socials, your network
  • Possibly additional interviews or photography as the campaign develops

You'll never be asked to write your own sales copy — just lend your voice and your network to a campaign Proxima has already built.

Compensation

Artists receive:

  • Residency fee
  • Air travel
  • Accommodations
  • Meals and local transportation
  • Full hospitality
